The Doctor: The note on the Professor's kitchen door said he'd be back by teatime; what time is it?
Romana II: I haven't a clue.
The Doctor: A Timelord who doesn't know the time... how remiss of you, Madam President.
--"Shada", Big Finish Doctor Who [Eighth Doctor] Audio Drama, 2003--

Rough sketch of Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor.

I'll be honest here: I started out in Doctor Who with the newer Doctors.

I  them all.

Even so, when I first saw the Eighth Doctor, I instantly understood how people could say, " is my Doctor."
I also instantly knew he was, as they say, my Doctor.

He appeared on-screen only once. I wanted more, so I hunted down as many of his audio adventures as I could. They're such a treat, but I still thought how nice it'd be to actually see him again at least one more time in the role.

This simple, rough sketch was made earlier this year but since a) today's Paul McGann's birthday and b) they've released The Night of the Doctor, I thought I'd put it up here to celebrate.

This is an excellent rendition of Mr. McGann.  And as a very old fan, I think he did a wonderful rendition of the Doctor - I think they just did the show after the Doctor had waned a bit too much, and he didn't really relate to the audience they were trying to reach.  I remember watching it when it originally aired and my nieces thought the program was boring, while older fans sniffed at it because it felt too 'American' - like the Torchwood 'Miracle Day' series.

I just wish Paul McGann could have had a season of adventures on tv!

( my introduction to Doctor Who had been through the Fourth Doctor's adventures on a sandminer in 'Robots of Death'.... ^ ^;;  )

Yeah, it was a great missed opportunity....(but I wish they would go back and do them, since Mr. McGann is still alive....)

And yes! 'Robots of Death' was great!  (if you like murder mysteries, then I think you'll really enjoy it!  )  ^ _ ^
